Connecting to
Cornerstone (TBA @
9)
Teacher: Chas LaPierre
A new class will be announced. This class includes the elements of fellowship,
Bible exploration, and discussion. The focus will be on what God has said to us
in the Bible and how we can take action on that truth in today’s world. Anyone
may attend this new class; however, the class is designed for those who are new
to Cornerstone. This class could help you develop the faith you desire,
invigorate a faith you already have, or define how you want to grow and serve.
You may join this class at any time. Each of the ten sessions is self-contained.
The sessions will be repeated throughout the year, so, if you miss a session,
you can pick it up the next time the series is presented.
Faith Café
(Begins 7/4 @ 9)
Teacher: Walt Brown
Renovation of the
Heart
The local café has been a part of Americana for many years. It has been an
informal place for getting a good basic meal but it is also a hub of social
activity and friendships. That is the idea behind what we believe this new class
could be in our faith community. Faith Café is a class where you can get a good
spiritual meal, participate in pertinent discussions, meet people, and make
friendships. For this quarter, we aren’t born again to stay the way we are and
yet the struggle to be devoted to Christ is often flawed by set-backs. Is it
possible to experience significant growth in your Christian walk, shed sinful
habits, and take on the character of Christ? Most of us would say that is the
ideal but we still wonder “How do I get there?” This class will draw on
scripture and the book Renovation of the Heart by
Dallas Willard to answer that question and many more as we put on the character
of Christ.
Homebuilders
(Begins 7/4 @ 9)
Teachers: Kevin Bayless, Scott Curtis, Jeff Medema & Greg Sprinkle
Growing Wiser
The Homebuilders class strives to help parents build up Godly families. While
our kids look forward to birthdays and the freedoms and opportunities that each
new year brings, we may not be so enthusiastic about growing older ourselves.
The Bible is filled with examples, however, of the wisdom and benefits that can
come with age and experience. This quarter we will study some of these examples
to learn how we can grow wiser through God’s counsel and learning from the Godly
people around us. Please join us for study, discussion, laughter, and
encouragement.
Pathfinders
(Begins 7/4 @ 9)
Teacher: Mike Hall
The Epistles of John
This class is made up of young adults and married couples in their 30s and 40s.
We study a variety of Bible based subjects. The class is structured for
discussion, fun, and fellowship. Have you ever struggled with deciding what
God’s will is for your life? Could you use help in making decisions? If so, this
class may provide you with the answers you seek. Join us as we explore the
concepts related to understanding God's will and decision-making in your life.
Study materials will be provided.
Halas
(Begins 7/4 @ 10:30)
Teacher: Steve Matthews
Israel
Members of this class are generally 55 and older. The class will study the
beginnings of the nation of Israel, their time spent in Egypt, and their exodus
out of Egypt. God had the Hebrew people live in Egypt for 430 years. This study
will help us understand and know His purpose and plan for the Hebrews in Egypt
and how that influenced the rest of their history. Join us.
Philia
(Begins 7/4 @ 10:30)
Teacher: Bill Estes
Managing
Conflict in the Church
Members of the class are typically 30s, 40s, and 50s. There is fellowship and
caring for all who attend. The apostles faced conflict and so will you, but
conflicts can cripple a congregation if left unresolved! Learn to recognize
warning signs, sharpen your communication skills, and mediate with confidence.
From minor personality differences to no-holds-barred power struggles, learn to
handle disagreements and strengthen our church in the process.
Sonrise
(Begins 7/4 @ 10:30)
Teacher: Dave Blanford
Jesus Christ: Teacher, Servant, Savior
The class is open to all adults. This class is close knit and empathic. We
thoroughly enjoy each other’s company – in and out of class. New members are
welcomed. We have lively discussions, share feelings, laugh a lot, and love
learning about God’s ways. The study explores how Jesus is the fulfillment of
the Old Testament and then moves through the gospels and the letters discovering
different aspects of Christ in each book. Join us.
